Founded in Houston in March of 2015, TexasFootvolley is the initiative of a sports fanatic, 4-time All American and failed Pro soccer player, Zuca Palladino. Married with Cris, Father of Nina and Theo, Zuca fell in love with Footvolley while recovering from an ACL injury, and guarantees that his soccer cleats are now retired!
When Zuca moved to Houston, he knew that footvolley could be a breakthrough sport in Texas, as warm weather and sand volleyball courts are abundant in the lone star state. So what started with mapping the courts locations, buying the balls and net, slowly moved to a talent hunt and in six months time they held their first tournament with over 16 players!
Now part of the National Footvolley Association (NFA), TexasFootvolley is a growing platform for the Gulf Region to this eye-catching sport!

FAQ
What is Footvolley? Is this a new sport?
Footvolley is volleyball with your feet, believe or not! 2 players per side, 1 net and 1 ball. NO HANDS ALLOWED!
In 1965, Octavio de Moraes developed footvolley in Rio’s famous Copacabana Beach and now it is the fastest growing sport in the world! Every day, thousands of people play football and volleyball on the sandy shores or in sand courts spread across non-shored cities just like Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio!
Footvolley was also a featured trial Olympic sport at the Rio 2016 OLYMPICS!

What is the minimum age to play footvolley?
Anyone who can kick and head a ball is welcome to play. We have special balls for kids, so parents should not worry. Since Footvolley is an impact free sport, the risk of injury is very mild to any player. In fact, the sport strengthens core muscles of your body and the sand offers a great resistance to build lower muscles and recover from lower body joint injuries (ankles and knees).
What are the rules of Footvolley?
The rules are the same as volleyball, except that a regular game goes to 18 points and you are not allowed to use your hands. The ball is put into play by serving the ball with one’s foot over the net to the opponent’s court. A team is allowed to hit the ball three times to return it to the opponent’s court. A player is not allowed to hit the ball twice consecutively. The rally continues until the ball touches the ground or goes “out” or a team fails to return it to the opponent’s court or commits a fault. If a team fails to deliver the ball over the net then the opposing team is rewarded with the point.

This seems very hard, how long to I have to practice to be good at it? I am hopeless at soccer!!
Have you ever tried surfing? Footvolley is much easier as the surface is not moving!! Like any ball sports, it’s you, the ball and the objective. It’s contact free, so a lot safer than even baseball! In three sessions you will get the hang of it, and in 3 months you will be playing. After that, whether you will become a skilled player will depend on your commitment, addiction to the sport and skill, just like any sports.
It is true that if you play soccer, you will have it easier for yourself, but the facts show that a lot of the best players also come from non soccer players, who were either goalkeepers or have had some exposure to volleyball in the past.
The sport bases itself on playing the ball in the air at around 1-2ft above net height and always aiming near the net towards your partner, so the court and body movement mimic the exact volleyball dynamic.
This is an intense sport, so a lot of people who hate lower body workout in the gym, will love it! If you like functional workouts and outdoor sports, this is up your alley!
I am a girl and I can't chest the ball, figure this one out Texas Footvolley!?!
Don’t worry, check Natalia Guitler and Bianca (link here) so you can see the technique and grace. Girls usually use their shoulders to receive and set balls, it’s a very safe and injury free technique. Join our clinics and come practice with us!

Woodway Square Apartments
In the Galleria area, it's a great place to practice and have it as a backup for an early weekend if you want to do a quick game and live nearby. Located next to a dog park, very family friendly but no entertainment or bar, so BYO for a picnic. You need a gate code to get in!

Tip: this is an apartment complex, so plan accordingly, there are bathrooms and a nice pool, but occasionally the dogpark and nearby cats of careless owners contribute to an unwelcoming hazardous grass and scented odor. Reason why we baptized the place "catpoop".
